Moshav Mevo Beitar is a communal moshav (“Moshav Shitufi”) in the Judean Mountains located 10 kms. south-west of Jerusalem, between the Ella junction and Beitar Ilit, within the "Green Line", at 750 meters above sea level. The moshav belongs to the Matteh Yehuda Regional council and is one of the "Fork Settlements" which include Tsur Hadassah, Mattah, Bar Giora, and Moshav Ness Harim. The moshav was established in 1950 by two groups of the Beitar youth movement; one from South America, the other from the United States. Today there are 120 families living on the moshav. Most of the inhabitants commute to Jerusalem, but some work in the Beit Shemesh or Tel Aviv areas. Agricultural work on the moshav consists mainly of supervised chicken coops.
